Doctors and scientists today know that a stressed body is more susceptible to disease and other ailments.  Aromatherapy can help calm and sooth you and reduce your stress levels.  Theses essential oils also have many medicinal uses.  They are taken from fruits and plants and have been around for centuries, helping people to stay healthy and have a wonderful outlook on their lives.  Some of the more exotic ones include Clary-Sage oil, Eucalyptus oil, Tea Tree oil and Rose-Otto oil.  Your health food store or specialty store should have most of these fantastic essential oils.

Clary-Sage oil, a perennial, is a member of the lavender and thyme family and is grown worldwide for its medicinal use.  It is native to
France, Italy and Syria.  This pretty plant with light purple flowers contains antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties.  Amazingly, this oil can balance hormones in women suffering from menopause.  It can help remedy the hot flashes and painful menstrual cramps.  Use an aromatherapy lamp to create a pleasant, soothing atmosphere.  Also try mixing Clary-Sage oil with other oils such and Lemon oil and Bergamot oil for your own individual scent.

Eucalyptus oil comes from the Eucalyptus tree in
Australia.  The Aborigines were probably the first people to discover the medicinal uses of this oil.  To produce 2 pounds of Eucalyptus oil, about 110 pounds of the plant is needed!  This essential oil has been used to help bring down fevers and to help with colds.  The oil contains strong germicidal and disinfectant qualities.  In your diffuser or aromatherapy lamp, put 4 drops of the oil along with 2 drops of Lemon oil and enjoy its stimulating scent.

Tea-Tree oil can be used as a remedy for many different kinds of ailments.  It can help with coughs, infectious, diseases, arthritis, wounds and can also be used as a disinfectant.  Put several drops in your warm bath to help relieve aches and pains and dry skin.  For a sore throat, you can gargle with this oil.  Simply mix 3-6 drops of the Tea-Tree essential oil in one glass of water.  Many people keep a supply of this oil in their medicine cabinet.

Rose-Otto oil, a flower essence, gives off a rich, pleasant aroma when used in a simmer pot.  Put in 2 drops of Rose-Otto oil and 1 drop of Lavender oil and enjoy the wonderful bouquet.  The best Rose-Otto oil comes from
Bulgaria.  This oil is very time consuming to make.  You need more then two tons of roses (all picked by hand) to make one pond of Rose-Otto oil!  As a result, this oil is rather costly!  Rose-Otto oil can also be used as an aphrodisiac.  The intoxicating aroma affects the mind and body by relaxing and relieving stress.

Bergamot oil is native from the
Canary Islands to Italy.  The Bergamot tree produces a bitter green fruit and this is what's used to make the oil.  It contains antiseptic and astringent substances that can help with acne and insect bites and even with urinary-tract infections.  Draw a warm bath and add 4-5 drops of Bergamot oil.  Bathe in the bath every day until the symptoms are gone.  Some people claim that his oil can also be used as a natural mosquito repellent!  Just put a few drops into your aromatherapy lamp, or place a couple of drops on a cotton ball and put it in your pocket.

Try to find these helpful, soothing oils at your nearby store.  Use them everyday, whether for their relaxing scents or for their medicinal purposes.  You will be pleasantly surprised at how your health and well-being will benefit!
